Australia

The Great Southern Land

Camping in Australia isn't a holiday; it's a rite of passage. From the red dust of the Centre to the white sands of Jervis Bay, this country wants to kill you, but it looks beautiful doing it.

Whether you are doing "The Big Lap" in a caravan or just a weekend warrior in a swag, the gear remains the same: tough, reliable, and built for heat.

Where Should You Start?

  • The Outback (NT/SA): Real camping. Red dirt, millions of stars, and complete silence. requires preparation.

  • The East Coast (QLD/NSW): The "easy mode." Holiday parks, surf beaches, and plenty of towns for supplies.

  • The High Country (VIC/TAS): Cold, rugged, and rewarding. Bring your hiking boots and thermal underwear.

☀️ The "Follow the Sun" Rule

Verdict: Australia is too big for one forecast. You need to chase the good weather.

Summer (Dec-Feb)
Go South (VIC/TAS/SA) - North is wet.
Autumn (Mar-May)
Go East (NSW/QLD) - Coastal touring.
Winter (Jun-Aug)
Go North (NT/WA/QLD) - Outback cool.
Spring (Sep-Nov)
Go West (WA) - Wildflowers.
⚠️ Watch Out: It takes 3 days of driving to cross one state. Don't over-plan.

Australia Gear Essentials

Aussie gear needs to survive UV rays, red dust, and corrugated roads.

  • Cooling: Ice is a luxury. Invest in a 12V Fridge if you are going for more than 3 days.
  • Shelter: Canvas is king. It breathes better in the heat than polyester.
  • Water: Always carry 10L more than you think you need.

The Golden Rule: Shake out your boots before you put them on. Spiders, scorpions, and centipedes love warm shoes.

🏆 Our "Add to Cart" Recommendations:

  • Best All-Rounder Tent: Oztent RV-5 – The legendary "30-second" tent that every Aussie dad swears by.
  • Essential Protection: Sea to Summit Head Net – For the flies. Do not argue. Just buy it.
