Woods Reserve Campground
About This Campsite
Woods Reserve is the most family-friendly campground in Namadgi National Park, and one of the best-equipped bush camps in the ACT. With 40 sites, flush toilets, hot showers, and gas BBQs, it offers a level of comfort that is rare for a national park campground this close to real wilderness.
The campground sits along Paddys River in a mix of open grassland and eucalypt forest. Trailheads connect directly to walking tracks through the park, and the wildlife is outstanding. Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, and possums are regular visitors, with gang-gang cockatoos frequently calling from the canopy overhead.
Be aware that Woods Reserve is currently closed for upgrades and is expected to reopen mid-2026. When it does reopen, camping fees are $10 per adult per night ($8 seniors, $6.50 concession), with kids under 15 free. Nights are cold year-round at this elevation, so pack warm layers regardless of the season. No campfires are permitted, so bring a gas stove.
