Patonga Caravan and Camping Area
About This Campsite
Patonga Caravan and Camping Area occupies a peaceful waterfront position in the tiny bay-side village of Patonga, about 25km south of Gosford on the Central Coast. The park sits between Patonga Creek and the waters of Broken Bay, surrounded on three sides by Brisbane Water National Park, making it one of the most naturally secluded camping spots within easy reach of Sydney.
The council-run park has 36 powered and 45 unpowered grassed sites suitable for caravans, campervans, and tents. Amenities include hot showers, laundry facilities, free BBQs, a playground, tennis court, and lighting throughout. Small camp fires are permitted between April and August under strict guidelines, which adds a proper camping atmosphere during the cooler months. Dogs are not allowed.
Patonga village itself is a charming destination with the Patonga Beach Tavern and Bistro, a seafood takeaway, and the Bakehouse Art Gallery all within walking distance. A ferry service operates from Patonga wharf to nearby Palm Beach and Bobbin Head, giving you the option of arriving by boat rather than road. Several bushwalking tracks offer spectacular views of the surrounding national park, and the fishing, swimming, and sailing right off the doorstep make this a top pick for anyone wanting a quiet coastal escape without driving hours from Sydney.
