Cumberland River Holiday Park
About This Campsite
Cumberland River Holiday Park is arguably the most photogenic campsite on the entire Great Ocean Road. Tucked between towering volcanic cliffs and a calm river mouth, it feels miles away from the chaos of Lorne, despite being only a 7km drive. The massive “Dad win” here is that unlike almost every other commercial park on the coast, campfires are permitted (in hired drums). Sitting by a fire with the cliffs illuminated behind you is a core memory creator. The park is a paradise for families with young kids because the river forms a shallow, calm wading pool that is infinitely safer than the rough surf beaches nearby. However, you need to be smart about your rig: because the park is situated in a narrow valley, the sites can be tight and the ground can be soft. It is not the place for massive 5th-wheelers or buses; check the dimensions before you book. You have direct access to the Cumberland Falls hike right from your tent, which is a solid morning activity to wear the kids out. Facilities include a decent amenity block and a well-stocked kiosk for the essentials (ice, firewood, and lollies). Strictly no pets.
