Canoelands Orchard Camping
About This Campsite
Canoelands Orchard Camping sits on an 81-acre working fruit orchard about an hour from Sydney’s CBD, surrounded by the valley views of Marramarra National Park. It’s one of the best-reviewed farm campsites near Sydney — over 300 reviews at 97% on Hipcamp — and it earns that by offering something a standard campground can’t: pick-your-own fruit, animals to feed, a cafe on site, and sites with genuine privacy.
There are 15 unpowered sites spread across the property. Most are grassy orchard paddock sites surrounded by fruit trees on all sides, comfortable for 2-3 tents or a caravan. Sites 1-4 sit on the western edge with valley views over the orchard below. Site 5 is a secluded dam-side tent spot — peaceful but steep access and not recommended for small children. All sites get a fire drum; campfires are welcome outside fire ban periods. Bring your own wood or order from the property.
The cafe and shop open from 9am for coffee, breakfast, and lunch. The orchard produces stone fruit, apples, citrus, strawberries, and blueberries across different seasons — guests pick what’s current to eat on site and purchase any to take home. Check what’s in season before booking if the fruit picking is the point of the trip. Animals are fed each morning at 9:30am: horses, chickens, goats, pigs, guinea pigs, and alpacas. Let the hosts know the night before if you want to join. Tractor rides run weekends and school holidays through the shop.
Facilities are simple but clean: flush toilets, hot showers, coin-operated washing machine, and drinking water, all located near the shop. Note that some sites are a 2-5 minute drive from the amenities block — a camp toilet is worth bringing for overnight stays.
A few honest notes: this is a working farm with tractors active from 7am and a quarry that can start from 6:30am. No mobile reception on site. Site 4 has overhead power lines. Pets welcome — let the hosts know when booking. Wiseman’s Ferry is 15 minutes away; Glenorie for supplies is 15 minutes south.
