Wangi Falls Campground
About This Campsite
Wangi Falls Campground sits at the base of Litchfield National Park’s most famous waterfall, where monsoon-fed pools stay swimmable for most of the year. With 33 sites nestled among tropical rainforest, this is one of the Territory’s most popular campgrounds for good reason. Arrive early in the dry season or you’ll be watching from the carpark.
The campground itself is well set up with flush toilets, hot showers, gas BBQs, and a camp kitchen. Sites are a mix of grassy clearings under shady trees, and while there’s no power, most campers don’t miss it. At dusk, look up: thousands of fruit bats stream out from the canopy overhead, and wallabies graze between the sites. It’s one of those Territory moments you don’t forget.
Be aware that the swimming hole closes when saltwater crocodiles are detected (check the signs at the entrance), and wet season flooding can close the road entirely. No pets, no generators, and BYO all supplies because there’s nothing out here but bushland. For families and nature lovers willing to plan around the seasons, Wangi Falls delivers an unforgettable Top End camping experience.
