Pebbly Beach Campground
About This Campsite
Pebbly Beach Campground in Murramarang National Park is one of the most iconic camping spots on the NSW South Coast, famous for the eastern grey kangaroos that graze through camp and sometimes wander right down to the water’s edge. With only 23 sites tucked behind the forest along the coastline, it offers a small, intimate camping experience between Bawley Point and Batemans Bay.
Unlike most campgrounds in the area, tent camping here is on gravel platforms next to your vehicle rather than grass. The park provides hot showers, flushing toilets, drinking water, and BBQ facilities. There is no camp kitchen, powered sites, or mobile reception at the campground itself. Bookings are essential through NSW National Parks, with off-peak rates starting from around $24 per night for up to six people. A separate $8 per vehicle per day park entry fee also applies.
The real draw is the wildlife and the coastline. Over 90 bird species have been recorded in the park, including peregrine falcons, sea eagles, and sooty oystercatchers. Several walking tracks start directly from the campground, including the trail to Snake Bay and the spectacular Murramarang South Coast Walk. The beach is popular for swimming, surfing, snorkelling, and rock platform exploration at low tide, with sea caves accessible at the northern headland. Spotted gums grow right down to the ocean here, providing shade and a stunning natural backdrop.
