About This Campsite
Hahei Beach Resort is the undisputed “Logistical HQ” for visiting Cathedral Cove. Years ago, you could drive to the Cove car park; now, that car park is effectively closed or inaccessible to the public, meaning this resort is the strategic pinch point. You stay here for one reason: access. You can walk directly from your tent to the start of the Cathedral Cove walking track (check current track status) or, even better, catch the Hahei Water Taxi or kayak tours right from the beach in front of the camp. The resort itself is massive and undeniably premium—we are talking beachfront sites, food trucks, and an on-site bar/eatery that saves you from cooking. It’s a “holiday park” in the truest sense, so expect noise, kids on bikes, and a bustling vibe rather than bush serenity. The Dad Reality Check: You are paying for the location. It is one of the most expensive campsites in the country during peak season. Also, the sites can be tight; if you have a massive fifth-wheeler, check the map carefully, as the trees and internal roads can be a squeeze. Strictly no pets during peak periods and holidays.
