Lakes Edge Holiday Park

Lakes Edge Holiday Park sits on the outskirts of Twizel in the Mackenzie Country, one of the most scenic camping locations in the South Island. The turquoise glacier-fed lakes, snow-capped Southern Alps, and vast tussock-covered basins make this part of Canterbury feel like another world entirely.

The park has around 80 sites with full facilities including hot showers, flush toilets, camp kitchen, laundry, baby change room, dump station, WiFi, and gas BBQs. It suits all vehicles from tents to motorhomes and caravans up to 12 metres. Pets are welcome on a leash. The lakeside setting offers pleasant views, and there is kayaking, swimming, and fishing close by.

Twizel is perfectly positioned as a base for exploring the wider region. Lake Pukaki, Lake Ohau, and the road up to Aoraki/Mount Cook are all within easy driving distance. The area is also famous for stargazing due to the minimal light pollution. Powered sites run from $45 to $65 per night depending on season. Winter nights are cold, so pack accordingly.
