Kennedy Park Resort Napier
About This Campsite
Kennedy Park Resort is Hawke’s Bay’s largest holiday park, spread across 5.7 hectares of well-maintained, park-like grounds just a five-minute drive from Napier’s city centre. The resort offers an impressive range of accommodation from two-bedroom villas and motel rooms to cabins and 170 camping sites, making it suitable for everything from budget tent camping to comfortable family holidays. It’s a council-owned facility that balances resort-style amenities with traditional campground charm.
Camping facilities are comprehensive. The 92 powered sites are spacious, flat, and well-grassed, with many offering water and greywater drains on site. An additional 78 non-powered tent sites provide plenty of room to spread out. Communal amenities include modern shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, free hot showers, and laundry services. The park’s leisure facilities set it apart from typical campgrounds: there’s a year-round heated swimming pool complex with a separate children’s lagoon pool and fountains, an adventure playground with a jumping pillow, a games room with pool table and air hockey, a TV lounge, and even giant outdoor chess. Storkey’s Restaurant and Bar operates on site, serving dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort.
The location puts you within easy reach of Napier’s famous Art Deco architecture, wineries, restaurants, and the National Aquarium of New Zealand (just 3km away). McLean Park sports ground is a short stroll from the resort, and the beaches and attractions of Hastings and Havelock North are a quick drive south. The park is 15 minutes from Napier Airport, making it a convenient base for exploring the wider Hawke’s Bay region.
