Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve Campground
About This Campsite
Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is the logistical “easy button” for the Abel Tasman National Park. If your goal is to explore the park without the hassle of driving to a boat ramp at 8:00 AM, this is where you stay—you can roll out of your tent and walk 50 meters to the water taxis and kayak operators that launch directly from the beach. Be warned: this is a massive, high-energy holiday park (400+ sites) that operates like a small village, complete with an on-site petrol station, general store, and restaurant. You are paying for location, not seclusion; expect to be camping shoulder-to-shoulder with neighbors during peak season. The facilities are designed to handle the crush, featuring four large amenity blocks with hot showers, modern camp kitchens, and laundry. The secret weapon for families here is the world-class Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park located directly behind the campground, which offers incredible trails for both kids and shredders. Access is fully sealed and suitable for any vehicle size, but booking months in advance is essential for summer. Strictly no pets.
