Martins Bay Holiday Park
About This Campsite
Martins Bay Holiday Park is a small, quiet coastal camp on the Mahurangi Harbour, about an hour north of Auckland. With around 20 sites suitable for tents, campervans, and caravans, it stays relaxed even during peak season. Pets are welcome on a leash, which is a bonus for dog owners who want to escape the city.
Facilities include a dump station and gas BBQs, though you should stock up on supplies before arrival as there is nothing nearby. The park sits on sealed road access and suits all vehicle types up to about 12 metres. Kawau Island is a short boat trip away, and the Matakana Wine Trail and Scandrett Regional Park are both within easy driving distance.
The coastline here is sheltered and calm, good for swimming and fishing, though the water is cooler than you might expect. Shorebirds, seals, and the occasional dolphin are spotted from the waterfront. Sites start from $45 per night, and booking ahead is essential during summer holidays.
