Cable Bay Campground - Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park
About This Campsite
Cable Bay is the strategic choice for fisher-dads heading to Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park. Unlike the surf-focused Pondalowie sites, Cable Bay sits on the eastern side of the peninsula, offering easy strike distance to the historic Inneston ruins and the famous Ethel shipwreck nearby. The campground overlooks the bay with spectacular sunrise views that are absolutely worth the 6:00 AM wake-up call. Access is generally 2WD friendly on gravel, and the sites are flat and gravel-based, suitable for caravans and campers—but space is tight (only 9 sites), so booking is a combat sport in peak season. Be warned: this site is highly exposed. If the weather turns, there is very little protection from the elements, and you will feel every knot of wind. You must be fully self-sufficient here: there are long-drop toilets, but zero water and no power. You need to bring every drop of drinking and washing water with you. It’s a top spot for throwing a line in off the beach, but keep a close eye on the kids near the water. Campfires are strictly seasonal and often banned, so bring a gas cooker as your primary plan.
