Honeymoon Bay Campground
About This Campsite
Honeymoon Bay is the “Holy Grail” of Jervis Bay camping, but it is locked behind some of the strictest access rules in the country because you are camping on an active Navy Weapons Range (Beecroft). The bay itself is the ultimate “Dad Win”—it is perfectly semi-circular, shallow, and protected, making it essentially a giant saltwater swimming pool that is safe for even the smallest toddlers. However, the logistics are brutal. Outside of school holidays, it is only open on weekends (Friday 1 pm to Sunday 2:30 pm). You cannot just turn up on a Tuesday. The Summer Reality Check: For the Christmas school holidays, you cannot just book; you must enter a Ballot System (usually in August). If you don’t win, you don’t go. Facilities are primitive: there are portable toilets and garbage bins, but no showers and no drinking water. You must bring everything. Also, be prepared for the “access gate” queue on Fridays; it’s first-come, first-served for non-ballot periods, and people line up early. Strictly no pets (National Park/Defence rules).
