Diamond Head Campground
About This Campsite
Diamond Head Campground is the most popular beachside camping destination in Crowdy Bay National Park, offering a rare blend of national park wilderness and caravan park-style convenience on the NSW Mid North Coast. Set right on the edge of South Dunbogan Beach, this iconic campground provides marked sites for motorhomes, caravans, campervans, camper trailers and tents, plus a dedicated walk-in camping area for those seeking a more secluded tent-only experience. Wake to the sight of eastern grey kangaroos grazing across the grassy campsites, and fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. The campground is the gateway to exceptional coastal bushwalks, including the famous 4.8km Diamond Head Loop Walk via Indian Head, which rewards hikers with panoramic views of rugged coastline, dense bushland and the striking Natural Arch formation battered by ocean swells. Nearby Split Rock’s blackened volcanic pillars rise dramatically from the sand, creating an otherworldly beach landscape. Facilities include flush toilets, cold beach showers, covered gas BBQs, picnic shelters and a dump point for caravan waste. The onsite office sells firewood, ice and rents out braziers for permitted campfires. While drinking water is not available, the campground offers excellent mobile reception and direct 4WD beach access (council permit required). Located just 10km from Laurieton via unsealed road, Diamond Head delivers an authentic national park camping experience with all the convenience families need for a memorable coastal escape.
